Finally some warm weather has arrived in the UK, let’s hope it’s here to stay!
During the Summer months (and whilst you’re on holiday) it is a good idea to take a look at your usual beauty routine and make a few tweaks to ensure you’re using products that aren’t going to clog your skin, or leave you exposed to the sun’s damaging rays.
Here are our top tips on how to ensure you look and feel fabulous in the heat!
UP THE SPF
Ideally you should protect your skin from damaging UV rays all year round, but during the Summer it’s even more important to do so. You don’t have to slather on heavy-duty sun cream to do this, many brands now have SPF in their facial moisturisers that are lightweight and non-greasy, so you won’t even realise you’re wearing any!
SWITCH FOUNDATION for TINTED MOISTURISER
Here at colour me beautiful HQ we swear by our Morning Light Foundation for most of the year, but come the Summer it’s our Tinted Moisturiser that we’re packing in the suitcase! For a super-lightweight feel and extra hydration, you can’t go wrong with this fabulous product as it’s packed with conditioners and has light diffusing properties to unify your skin tone and correct imperfections.
GET LIPPY
Usually a lipstick lover? Us too! However, something a little lighter is the order of the day during the Summer. Try a lip gloss for a subtle pop of colour and understated look this season. Our new Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss is perfect to pop in your beach bag to take you from the pool to the cocktail bar!
PREP TO PERFECTION
When we’re hot make-up can have a tendency to slide around our face a little, meaning by the end of the day we’re looking more melted than marvellous!
Pop some of our colour me beautiful Eye Base underneath your eye shadow to prep your eyes for smoother eyeshadow application that will ensure your colour holds for hours with no creasing. This fabulous little product can also be worn alone if you wish, as it goes on sheer, allowing you to subtly brighten your eyes for a natural daytime look.
MIST IT
Facial mists are big news right now, and can be used in a number of ways. The key is to spray a very fine mist (therefore ensuring you don’t saturate your skin). Here are some of our favourite ways to use a facial mist…
Underneath your moisturiser (to lock in moisture better when your skin has been exposed to the sun)
To get a dewy texture with your make-up (use it before you put on your foundation or tinted moisturiser to give your skin a subtle glow)
To set your make-up (spraying a mist on after you’ve applied your base will remove a powdery finish and you can repeat throughout the day to keep you cool!)
